Back Issues, Real Estate & Some Clean Eats

For the past 4 years, I’ve known that THIS week was pretty much going to be the busiest week of my life and I was right.  I have never been this busy.  We are at a huge transition at work so I’m working TONS of overtime, I’m getting ready for my best friend’s wedding in Chicago next weekend and I’m busy with a ton of real estate stuff.

To be honest, I haven’t had time to workout much this week because my primary focus has been on other things.

I finally handed over the keys to my tenants in my first rental property.  YAYYYYY!  All of that back breaking work we’ve been doing for the past 6 months has finally paid off..literally.  Now I get to sit back and collect the rent checks.  I’m now officially a land-lady aka slumlord..whatever you wanna call me 😉

We have 6 houses that we need to be fixed up, rented out or sold before August.  Right now we are 2 houses down…4 more to go.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m could claim insanity from piling all this work and stress on my plate…

One more thing on the renovations….

We helped clear some landscaping at one of the houses this past weekend.

It went from this mess…

To this…

And now my poor boyfriend is left with a full body rash from Poision Ivy or Sumak that he must have gotten into.  Poor guy has blisters everywhere and he’s completely itchy.  I’m so fortunate that I didn’t get it too because that would not have been a good look as a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding next weekend!!

I tried on my dress again and it fits.  Hallelujah!  It’s pretty, isn’t it??  It’s a very light pink.  I gotta get a spray tan on Thursday so it will look even better 🙂  I’ll post wedding pics to my Instagram account (@LiveLifeActive) this weekend!

I also went to a neck surgeon this week for my neck / back issues .  I caved in and made an appointment for my degenerative disc disease issue I’ve been dealing with for the past 12 years.  I’m in constant pain and there have been no doctors to help.  I am not going to give up until I find some type of relief.  I now got prescribed pain killer patches (called Lidocaine 5% which uses the same stuff that dentists use to numb their patients) that I slap on my back and leave on for 12 hours at a time until the docs can figure out the real reason I’m in pain.  So far it’s helped a lot with the burning & pins/needles feeling that I usually feel, so that’s good!

I’m old..I’m falling apart!

I have an MRI scheduled for May 13th..I’m nervous but I really hope it will help them figure out what my deal is.  12 years of pain every day is just simply NOT FUN so I’m ready for an answer and more importantly, some damn relief!

The doctors said that my neck/back issues could be connected to the fact that I played soccer my whole life.  With several concussions and from the impact of heading the ball  for years upon years, it could have caused forever damage.  My soccer coach even had a specific play for me senior year that was all based around my header skills for corner kicks.  I even remember the name of it..it was called OberWeiss like the ice-cream & milk company.  My last name is Weiss, if you didn’t already get the connection 😉

Isn’t it crazy to think that I could be in pain forever just because I played a game that I loved to play while growing up?!  Ugh…makes me sick!  Makes me wonder what I’ll let my kids play in the future…

Anyway…..here are a couple clean eats / drinks that I’ve been loving lately…

Pure Protein shakes…I stocked up at the Vitamin shoppe the other day and got one of every flavor.  They have 35g protein, 4g carb, 1.5g fat, 1g sugar and they taste good!  These  have definitely fit into my macros every day lately 🙂

I also made a bunch of this and have been eating it for the past few days..

It’s just ground chicken, a 3 pepper/onion mix and brown rice.  I added a little habanero sauce to it to give it a kick and it was really good.  I’ve been all about eating spicy stuff lately.

To end this post…I wanted to share the greatest shirt of all time that I saw today…

If you like the movie Step Brothers, you’ll love this shirt I saw at Urban Outfitters.  haha!! how perfect is that?!?  I think I need to get one for my brother and my dad ASAP 🙂

I apologize if I haven’t been posting much lately but now I hope you understand what’s going on over here.  I’ll get back to a more normal posting cycle soon..hopefully!
