Can you guess what great gym pulled this lovely stunt recently? Yep…I bet most of you could have guessed it before reading the title to this post. PLANET FITNESS. No surprise there!
Melissa Mantor, who is 18 weeks pregnant, claims she was working out on the treadmill at the Planet Fitness on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in Charleston, S.C., when an employee advised her that she was in in violation of the dress code, and suggested that she leave the gym. Apparently Mantor was wearing a tank top with spaghetti straps at the time, but said she had worn the top before — even while taking her membership photo — without issue. The only difference was..she wasn’t pregnant when she wore the tank-top last time.
“I was very confused,” Mantor told WCIV. “She continued telling [me] that my belly was hanging out and I need to get it covered up. I told her at that time, ‘Of course my belly is hanging out, I am pregnant.’ She handed me a very large T-shirt while telling me that what I was wearing was inappropriate and in violation of their dress code.”
Mantor refused to change into the complimentary T-Shirt because she was embarrassed and also wanted to stick up for herself and other pregnant woman everywhere.
I think Planet Fitness needs to revise their “no judgment” rules and their dress code. I understand they try to promote an environment where you wouldn’t be intimidated by other gym-goers but they have been taking it too far lately.
Remember my post recently about the girl who got kicked out for being too fit? Yeah..things are getting ridic over there and I will NEVER support that gym.
