My Crazy Busy DIY Life in Real Estate

It’s been an insane week..once again. I have only been able to squeeze in a couple workouts at lunch and it’s kinda driving me nuts.  I hate how I feel when I’m not working out regularly but sometimes I just can’t go as much as I’d like to. That’s life!

I’m going to rewind back to last weekend..wow that feels like FOREVER ago!

We headed to Chicago to my Dad’s house on Friday night to go to dinner and stay the night. Saturday morning we headed to Milwaukee for our friend’s wedding.  It was another beautiful wedding.  My friends have been totally nailing it on the wedding front lately!!

It was the tallest wedding I’ve ever been to.  The groom is about 6’9 and his brothers and parents are between 6’9 and 7 foot.   My boyfriend is 6’4 and he looked short next to all these guys..it was funny!

It was fun to get all dolled up again.  That’s two weekends in a row!  That could be a record 🙂

We got an awesome hotel room that overlooked Milwaukee.  We had a view of the river and the lake.

Sunday we stopped at my Mom’s house in Chicago on the way back to Indianapolis.  It was a fully booked weekend but it was great to see the fam!

Monday morning I got my good old flu shot.  I hate those things!  My arm always gets so sore afterwards for a few days.  I’m all good now though and flu free!

On Monday afternoon, I finally closed on my first investment property!!!

I’m officially a land-lady now!  We have about 2 pages worth of renovations that need to be done to the house in order to get it rented, so we have a LOT of work ahead of us!!

We spent this week cleaning up the house.  It was pretty darn gross since the old lady who lived in it was there for the past 18 years.  Needless to say it needs some big time updates!

Check out the rose wallpaper that took over the bathroom!!!  Hello grandma style!!

We were not feeling the roses and I’m sure it wouldn’t be a hit with prospective renters, so I’m sorry grandma…but it’s on it’s way outta there.

Beside cleaning and painting 3 rooms and a hallway, I also got a washer & dryer installed in the laundry room.  I spackled all the holes in the walls, sanded the spackle, replaced a  fan light dome, added some carpet to the laundry room, we fixed the gutter and bought an oven at Habitat for Humanity. ( I love that place!)  We will be there all weekend to finish off the painting, then paint the trim.  It’s a lot of work now but will be worth it in the future!

I was sooooo covered in paint last night.  I keep noticing parts of my hair that still has paint in it.  Yeah I’m a hot mess!  I’m having a really hard time getting it all out of my hair too so ignore my grey looking hair today!

Anyone know a good way to get paint out of hair? If so, leave a comment below, I’d love to hear your suggestions.

I’m hoping to go to the gym today at lunch since i know my whole weekend will be filled with DIY rental renovations again.

I’m also totally tired.  These 7am – 9pm days are finally catching up to me!  Suck it up Erin!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.
