Hey everyone! I hope you’re having a great week so far. I wanted to stop in to tell you guys about a new fitness app I’ve been using lately. If you have followed this site for a while, you know I LOVE any type of fitness tracker or fitness device that helps track my workouts. I’m such a geek when it comes to things like this!!
The purpose of this app is to help guide you through a 6 week training program.
You get to choose weather you want to do a six week running program or strength training routine. I started with the running program to give it a shot.
I love that it’s not just a running program, it also incorporates weight training a few times a week.
When you start your session, it gives you an overview of all the workouts you’ll be doing (see above). It then tells you how many reps and sets to do of each exercise. (see below)
If you’re not sure about how to do a particular exercise, you just click on the video icon and can see a detailed video tutorial about how to do that specific exercise. It tells you proper form and everything! How helpful!!!
The app even tells you how long to rest because we all know that rest periods in between strength training is just as important to let your muscles recover.
It even tells you when to stretch after your workout! Thanks for reminding me, because I always forget to stretch post workout!!
After you complete your workout for the day, it gives you a calendar view so you can see what’s on the agenda for the rest of the week.
The last thing I love about the app is that it rewards you along the way with special achievement badges. I’ve always been a strong advocate for making small goals on the way to your larger goal. This keeps me feeling like I’m accomplishing something on a regular basis because we all know that large goals can seem too far away to reach sometimes!!
Overall I’m a fan of this app and have used it for about a week and a half now. I chose the running program and it’s helped me increase the amount of cardio I can do in one session. I’m not training for any specific race or event, but just trying to increase my cardiovascular endurance. #ITrainFor ME!
I highly encourage you to head over to the app store and give the Mountain Athletics App a try for yourself. Oh, I forgot to mention, it’s FREE too 🙂
If you give it a try, make sure to come back and leave a comment below to let me know what you think. I’d love to hear what you thought of it as well.
Also, it’s not too late to enter my $500 North Face giveaway!!!
Have a great day everyone!! XOXO
