Have you ever wondered how to clean grout? Do you have problems keeping your white grout clean like I do?
I have two dogs. Not just small dogs – HUGE dogs. Dobermans, to be exact. They also don’t just stay inside every day. They have a doggy door. Doggy doors equal a MESS because they can run inside and outside all day and come and go as they please. Yes they are probably the happiest pups in the world, but it leaves an unhappy momma when I realize how nasty our kitchen grout has gotten from their madness.
We installed this tile about 4 years ago and when we installed it, we were the idiots who chose to do bright white grout. SURE, it looks good when you first lay it but NOT if they are in a high traffic area or if you have two crazy muddy Dobermans running around on them all day. Bright white grout WILL eventually get dirty no matter how hard you try to keep it clean or seal it.
I wanted to share a trick with you guys to show you the worlds best way to clean grout.
I found this grout cleaner a few years ago and haven’t used anything since.
Here it is. It’s called Rubbermaid Commercial Quality Floor Grout Cleaner. I have always found it at our local Menards home improvement store but when I was in there today, I grabbed the last bottle. If you can’t find it online or in the store, the guy there said that Rubbermaid was bought by a company called ZEP so the comparable product would be this: Zep Grout Cleaner.
Surprise Surprise, when I finally find something I totally love, they rename it. I hope the ZEP stuff works as well but I have yet to test it.
Anyways..back to my magic show in the kitchen….
You just pour some of the solution on the dirty grout, let it sit for 2-3 minutes, lightly scrub with a grout brush and then wipe up. It’s so easy, quick and works so well.
My once beautiful kitchen floors have turned into THIS. Nasty! Look how dirty the grout is!

I did my whole entry way too because I love immediate gratification and this is pretty dang immediate.
I wish I knew how to clean grout this easily when I lived in my old house!
