Hey everyone! I hope you had a great weekend!
I had an amazing weekend because my two best girlfriends flew in from Chicago to visit me in Charleston 🙂
We were non stop all weekend. We even got to see this amazing tree. I’ve been wanting to go see it since I moved here. It’s called the Angel Oak Tree and it’s in John’s Island, SC.
Seriously…how cool is this!?!? I took this panoramic picture and think it turned out amazing.
The thing is a beast!
Angel Oak Tree Facts
The Angel Oak Tree is estimated to be 300-400 years old and will probably live another 400-600 years.
Tree Height: 65 ft
Circumference: In 1991 it was 25.5 ft but today it’s 31.5 ft!
The angel oak is a LIVE OAK (scientific name is Quercus Virginiana) that is a native species found throughout the lowcountry (coastal Carolinas). Live oaks only grow along the Eastern Coast. It is said to be the largest east of the Mississippi.
It’s massive draping limbs and wide spreading canopy present the aura of an angel but the naming of the tree was acquired from the tree’s previous owners, Martha and Justus Angel who owned the property, which dates back to the early 1600-1700s.

Aside from seeing the tree, we explored Charleston, tried a ton of new restaurants & bars…
Took the doberdogs to Folly Beach…
Even though it was chilly, the beaches are still breathtaking. Being from Chicago, I don’t think I’ll ever think it’s too cold to visit the beach. I don’t know if I’ll ever take the beach for granted after the ridiculous weather I’ve experienced in Chicago 🙂
And….as always….whenever I’m with my girls, things usually end up getting a little goofy..

Isn’t this the coolest looking rooftop restaurant / bar you’ve ever seen? It overlooks Charleston and has a pool in the bar. It’s called the Market Pavillion Hotel bar. If you’re ever in Charleston, you HAVE to check it out.
Overall it was a great weekend with my friends and I miss them already!!!!
