My Big Move Across The Country!

Hey-yoooo!!!  Sorry for being such a stranger lately but if you follow my Facebook page and my previous posts, you know I’ve been going through a huge transition in my life and now I finally have some down time to update you guys about it!

I’m BAAaaaaaACK!

So about two years ago I decided I wanted to move across the country from the Midwest to Charleston, SC.  Yep..it really took me that long to actually plan this move.  There were a LOT of moving parts that had to happen in order for this move to happen and guess what?!  IT HAPPENED!!!

I am officially a resident of Charleston, SC now and couldn’t be more excited about this new adventure.

Since I haven’t posted in a while, let me rewind a bit..

As most of you know, I’m also a real estate investor.  My boyfriend and I have several rental properties and we have gone from 1 house to 7 houses in the past year.  Needless to say, I’ve been BUSY BUSY BUSY because we buy properties that need a total rehab and then fix them up ourselves before eventually renting them out.

So….getting all of these 7 houses renovated and rented was one of the major obstacles we had to complete before we could move.  I also had a full time job at a hospital which I had to leave.

LOTS of big changes for this girl lately!

About a month before we actually hit the road, I had been slowly selling off my furniture.  I ended up having to sleep on an air mattress in my empty bedroom for about a month.

Moving Across The Country

Gotta do what you gotta do, right?  Mya and I had lots of cuddle sessions in that empty house 🙂

I packed up my life and put it all into a corner of my house until we moved.

Then when the time FINALLY came (after several extensions of our move date), we packed up the truck and rented a U-Haul trailer and hit the frickin road!

We drove about 6 hours the first day from Indianapolis to Crossville, TN and stayed the night there at Ryan’s uncle’s house.  We got there late and he had a huge feast for us to eat.  Now that’s my kinda guy!

I’m so glad we stayed the night because that would have been HARD to drive straight through the night.

I’m not a fan of driving at night.  Headlights always give me a headache and I get wayyy too sleepy.

Then we were back on the road  bright and early for another 7 hours to our final destination.

The doberdogs had the back seat while Ryan and I drove my car.  Ryan’s mom and her friend were nice enough to drive the truck and U-Haul behind us to help us move.

The doberdogs loved the adventure.  They are obsessed with car rides.  Obsessed isn’t an exaggeration either.  It’s hard to get them out of the car.  I love those goofballs!

smokey mountains

We drove through the Smokey Mountains which was probably the highlight to the road trip.  Someday I want to go back and go white water rafting through there!!

After two days of driving, we finally arrived in sunny Charleston, SC!!!  It’s been my dream to move there for quite some time now and it’s a bit surreal that it’s all finally happening!

The whole move across the country was instantly worth it as soon as we came to the famous Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.

Probably my favorite bridge in the world and now I get to see it every day 🙂

Stay tuned to my post tomorrow to see what we did as soon as we got there and pictures of my new place!!!
