Color Me Rad 2013

This past weekend I ran in the Color Me Rad 5k in Indianapolis.  We signed up to run at 9:40am which was nice as it wasn’t too early.

We checked in and got our free tshirt and sunglasses.  I have to say…Color Me Rad officially has the highest quality shirts.  I LOVE my shirt from 2012 and this one was just as cute!!  The material they use isn’t a typical cotton..it’s high quality and SOFT.  Love Love Love!!!

The weather was supposed to be in the 40s but by the time the race started I think it was in the high 50’s and sunny and couldn’t have been more perfect for a run.

We got straight in line to run and stretched while waiting to start.  The DJ at the starting line handed out some bags of color so we could do our first “color bomb”.  As he counted down, everyone danced to fun upbeat music and when he said zero, everyone threw up their color to make one colorful cloud above us before we began.

We kept saying we felt like we were in a Nickelodeon TV Show.  haha.  Everything at this race was so upbeat and colorful.  I love it.

Right before we started..one big cloud of color!

I ran with my boyfriend, Ryan and our friend Earl.  We kept a steady pace throughout the entire race without stopping.   This was the first race where I felt like the 5k went by FAST and I had no problem finishing the run.  I couldn’t believe it when we came up to the finish line.  I thought we had much more to run.  That’s a change for me because normally I HATE running.  This race must have just kept my mind occupied and we finished in no time!

I wish I knew how long it actually took us to run it, but I didn’t keep track of our time.  Bummer!

I think Ryan is ready to run again!

The stage afterwards was a lot of fun.  They were having different contests on stage so people could hang out after the race.  When we finished, they were having a watermelon eating contest.

After the watermelon eating contest, they had a color bomb where everyone threw up their colors into the air at the drop of the beat in the Harlem Shake song.

Check out my video below..it was cool!!!

If you have never done a Color Me Rad race before, I highly suggest you doing one!  They are so much fun and great for all ages!!!
