A Weekend On The Water, Pull Ups & My VMA Review

A Weekend On The Water, Pull Ups & My VMA Review

Happy Monday!! I hope you had a great weekend.  My weekend was spent mostly outside having some fun in the sun!

We spent Friday doing some real estate stuff and getting into a bidding war on an investment property that I’m trying to purchase.  We should find out today if I got it or not.  Gotta love real estate…always keeping me on my toes!  Hopefully we get the place!  If we do get it, we are going to fix it up and rent it out to college students, like our other rental property.  Nothing like some passive income to make life a little more fun and one step closer to financial freedom and not having to work for “the man”.  Keep your fingers crossed!  🙂

Saturday we woke up and hit the gym for a quick workout before heading to the lake.

We took our friend’s boat out and spent the day enjoying some good friends, perfect weather and some cold cocktails.

We woke up Sunday and took the dogs to the river.  It’s been too long since they have been able to play in water.  The last time Max played in the water was in Lake Michigan at Dog Beach (That place is amazing btw!)

They were so happy.  Then we walked them around the park.  The Broad Ripple park was so fitness friendly, I was shocked.  Throughout the trail, there were a lot of fitness stations where you could stop and do some strength training.  How cool!

I’ve always had a goal of doing pull ups so when I saw the pull up bar, I knew I had to try.  I actually tried a chin up and I did one!!!  I was soooo pumped!

Chin ups & pull ups are really hard for women because we don’t typically have the upper body strength needed to pull ourselves up;  combine that with the smaller amount of testosterone in our bodies and higher natural body fat levels we have compared to men, it’s much harder for us!  So if you’re a female and can do a pull up or chin up without assistance, kudos to you!!!

Last night I had the pleasure of watching the good old VMAs.  I tuned in to see Justin Timberlake perform because he’s really the only one I care about seeing.  JT is one of my favorites…a true talent and so humble and grateful.  I love how he performed with NSYNC and in his acceptance speech, he made sure to mention that he knows where his success started and that was with his boys in NSYNC.  What a stud.  I wouldn’t mind watching him perform every day for the rest of my life.  YUMMY!

As for the other FAILS of the show, there were several in my opinion, but Miley was by far the worst.  Her performance was just weird and very un-classy.  This girl needs some help.  Not only does she need help on her act, I’m sorry to say it but she needs to hire a new personal trainer.  She needs to do more SQUATS! What was up with her booty? Seriously!?

She’s the perfect example of skinny fat.  DO SQUATS LADIES!!!!!

What did you think of the VMAs this year?  Did you think Miley’s performance was acceptable?  Let’s hear it!!!

  1. I hate to judge, but isn’t that body shaming by calling Miley out about her butt? I mean, the performance was different and clothes skimpy but good or bad, we need to get past calling other women out on their bodies. I’m sure many women would kill for her bod regardless of a flatter bum.

  2. Agreed Amber. The last thing that I am reacting to after the performance is the fitness level of her body. I think this is probably a great teaching moment for all parents of young daughters out there who have watched her “grow up” to this point.
