Mom Kicked Out Of Water Park For Wearing A Bikini

Imagine this….  You work your ass off and lose 100 lbs by working out and eating healthy.  You finally feel confident enough to put on a bikini and head to the water park to enjoy some fun in the sun with your daughter.  You walk into the park and see many other girls around you wearing bikinis and you start to feel more comfortable in your own bikini…until the workers at the water park come over to you to tell you that you’re showing too much skin for the water park!  She was eventually kicked out.

This just happened last week to a poor woman named Madelyn Sheaffer, who’s 42 years young,  in Independence, Missouri.

The parks employees approached her and asked her to put on shorts and a shirt over her bikini because she was showing too much skin.

Madelyn states that she shouldn’t have to put on shorts when she was wearing the same size bikini bottoms as other girls (16-18 years old) at the pool.  Madelyn claims it was because of her age and that had more of a “full figure”.

This story obviously drives me CRAZY.  I seriously cannot believe that the city of Independence, Missouri is standing behind this story and claiming that it was the right decision.  I’m sorry, but there is no dress code for the water park.  She HAD A SWIMSUIT ON.  As Madelyn stated, you should feel comfortable in the skin you’re in but stories like this are holding women back from feeling confident with their own bodies.

I’m going to go ahead and say that I guarantee this little water park has never kicked out an obese man without a shirt on for being too “full figured”.  UGH..this story makes me SICK!!!

What do you think about this story?  Should there be a dress code for family water parks?

  1. You do not have to walk around naked or half naked to be comfortable in your own skin. It seems as though most girls, whether full- figured, super skinny, fake boobs, etc. are surpassing the limit and taking their clothing choices to the extreme. Being a little conservative/modest and leaving something to the imagination is much more appealing, not to mention tasteful. I know many women who have lost a lot of weight, and they would never show up with everything hanging out. Women can be tasteful, no matter what size, and still comfortable “in their own skin”.

  2. In California I was kicked off a ride for wearing shorts and a tank top. I had already been on the ride a dozen times that day but this one guy told me I couldn’t wear what I was wearing. Behind me was a lady wearing pants, and a long sleeve shirt she was let on the slide but because of religious reasons she could wear what she had on. I was kicked off for wearing too much lol they were swim shorts made for women and a thin tank top. I could have worn my leopard print bathing suit that didn’t cover up much, but since I was at a water park with kids I didn’t want to dress inappropriately.

  3. This story is absurd! Makes me extremely angry as well! Women should be able to wear whatever they are comfortable wearing. I wish more women would embrace their figures and not cover up as much. I’m 32 and have noticed that once a lot of women hit my age they simply give up, going straight into mommy mode. I have 2 boys and will wear a bikini until I’m in a retirement home. I refuse to give into the idea that once your a mom, your frumpy. I honestly feel more confident and sexy now than I ever have! Embrace it!

  4. This is crazy, society sometimes can’t get its act together, we complain that people need to get out and be active, yet people get ridicule for being comfortable in their own skin. Very sad indeed.
