Vitamins Through An IV

Have you guys heard about the newest celebrity trend going on right now….  celebrities like Madonna and Rihanna are getting their daily dose of vitamins through an IV drip!  Sadly enough this trend has other women around the country thinking they need to get this VIP service now. Unnecessary? I think so!!!!

Last month, Rihanna tweeted this picture of her arm while getting this treatment.

Many clinics now offer the opportunity of a quick stop “pick me up” option for anyone to get an IV full of vitamins and nutrients injected in their arm.

Would I ever spend hundreds to even a thousand dollars to get fueled with vitamins that I’ll eventually pee out in 24 hours due to a surplus, nope!

You can get a bag of one vitamin (B12 for energy, Vitamin C, etc) or you can get a cocktail of vitamins mixed together into one bag.   Patients have stated that they feel more alert after their “vitamin drip” which makes sense because they just got an IV of nutrients directly into their blood stream.  Is this something that a regular oral vitamin pak, a lot of water and 30 minutes can’t do,  no.  The only reason I see this necessary is if your body can’t absorb vitamins orally.

Don’t be conned into thinking this is the latest and greatest Hollywood trend that you have to run out and do in order to stay healthy.  This is a way for doctor’s offices to mark up a $10 bag of vitamins and sell a 10 minute service for hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Would this be a good idea after a long night of drinking and you have a severe hangover, YES but that’s just ridiculous.  This story actually reminds me of the Hangover Bus that I’ve heard about in Vegas that drives around and takes clients in to bring them back to life.  True story.  Here’s the van…

I didn’t even mention the risk of infection, vein inflammation and bruising you may see from an IV.  Why cause complications within your body?  If you’re thinking about getting this done, you may want to re-evaluate weather the quick “pick me up” is really worth it.

What do you think about this new trend?  Would you do it?
