I’m back from my first fitness competition!!! I have soo much to say about this experience that I’m going to break it up into a few posts.
To start the weekend off…I had my last workout on Thursday. It was so awesome finishing my last workout. I felt like a little kid on the last day of school. I was pretty warn down and the lack of carbs was causing my energy to be really low.
Thursday night, the fun began! I got to pamper myself a little with a mani/pedi. I felt really bad for the nail lady though. Those feet have been through some tough training lately and it had been a while since I had a pedi. She made them come back to life though 😉
I shaved my entire body and spray tanned myself on Friday morning before we left for Chicago. It’s important to shave your whole body because if you don’t, your hair will make the rub on tan all messed up! That was a first for me. I had never shaved my arms before! It felt pretty weird to be honest.
I figured I’d spray Friday morning then shower Friday night before I start applying my stage tanner.
Then we were off! We started to head to Chicago…but I made my boyfriend stop at the Apple store in hopes that they had some of the new Iphone 5 left in stock since it was the day it was released. We got to the Apple store around noon on Friday and I was in and out of the store with a new phone in hand within 20 minutes!!! I don’t get the people that camp out all night for the phone when you can go a little later in the day with no line.
I’m OBSESSED with my new phone!!! I could have ended the weekend there and been a happy girl. Yeah..I know..I’m a loser 😉
After that..we were really off to Chicago. The traffic SUCKED. It should have taken us about 3 1/2 hours but it took us over 6 to get to the host hotel.
With the ride taking so long, I had to eat several meals in the car. Good thing I brought my prepared food in a cooler! Always prepared 😉
I had some chicken and grapefruit for one meal. By the way..grapefruit is frickin NASTY and I ate it a few times in the last week of my show prep. I had never tried it before and I don’t think I want it ever again. It’s so bitter!!! It’s also a terrible thing to try to eat in a car. What a mess!
Also had a lean beef patty and cold asparagus. sounds delish, doesn’t it?
I missed the begining of the competitor’s meeting, but was able to get there by the end to grab my bag of swag and my stage number!
I was #28! Perfect number because that’s my age 🙂
Here’s a picture of me and my huge bag of swag that they gave the competitors.
Of course I was curious so I dumped it all over our bed. It was a ton of free samples and products to try. I love free stuff 🙂
Then I started being a loser and taking some classic Myspace bathroom shots. Sorry to be so corny. I just couldn’t believe how lean I looked! I had never looked so lean in my life so I had to take some pics!!
By gradually cutting down my water, it really dropped my water weight towards the end of my training!
Later that night I showered and then started the process of adding my Jan Tana stage tanner. It was a long process!!!
Thank goodness for my boyfriend being so amazing and patient with the tanning process. He spent forever rubbing this stuff on me. I think we ended up doing 2 coats of Jan Tana at night.
I had my hair and makeup appointment scheduled for bright and early at 7:15 the next morning. I was ready to go to bed early. After laying out dark sheets and a dark pillow case on the hotel bed, I was able to fall right asleep somehow. There is no way I thought I’d be able to sleep the night before, but somehow I slept like a baby! It must have been the comfy hotel bed or something. Whatever it was, I’m glad I was able to sleep!
Stay tuned for Part 2 (Update: Here is part two)!
