5 Days Out – Meal Prep & A Shoot

It’s officially the start of my “peak week”.  This is when everything needs to be SPOT ON with my nutrition.  My coach sent me my nutrition for this week and Sunday I spent about 3 hours prepping all my food for the week.  I thought it would take less time than normal but it actually took longer because almost all of the “usual” stuff I was used to having was eliminated from my diet this week.

Pretty much my menu for the week consists of:

  • Tilapia
  • Chicken
  • Asparagus
  • Green Beans
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Oats
  • Grapefruit

Yep…the list is pretty damn short but the meal prep took me forever.  I hate fish..but I’m sucking it up and eating it all week.  yuck.

Here’s a picture I snapped after I finished meal prep for the week.

Food Prep

Yes, those are USPS labels.  I had some extra ones laying around the house that were about to be thrown out so I figured I’d use them this week to label my food!  I’m sure at some point this week I’ll wish that I could put an address on one of those tilapia bags and send them to someone else to eat instead of me!

Maybe they could send me a big fat pizza in return? ha 😉

I have to admit..this is the first time I’ve ever eaten green beans, chicken and sweet potato at 7:45 am.  This is going to be a LONG week!!!

I plan on sticking with the same eating schedule that I have been on for months now.  My body is like a machine right now and knows exactly when it’s “feeding time”.  😉

I usually eat at these times:

  1. 7:45am
  2. 10:15am
  3. 1pm
  4. 3:15pm
  5. 6pm
  6. 9pm

If you’re new to eating smaller meals, try eating every 2-3 hours.  It cranks up that metabolism!!!

As for my weekend…it was relaxing and that’s exactly what I needed.  Friday night, I went to the gym and spent my evening adding gems to my swimsuit and theme-wear costume while I watched the movie The Lucky One with Zac Effron.

It was an okay flick..nothing great.  I have had bad luck with movies lately..nothing I’ve seen has blown me away lately….since probably Bridesmaids!  Now that’s a classic!!!

On Saturday, I went to the gym to lift shoulders and then did an Insanity DVD as my cardio at home.

Sunday was my big pre-competition photo shoot that I’ve been planning on doing for months now!!!  It went really well.  This was the one I did with the local magazine.  If the pictures turn out good…he said he could possibly use them for future issues of the magazine.  Hopefully they turned out well!

Here I am on the way home from the shoot.  They did my makeup and I brought my own wardrobe.

I’m not a makeup kinda girl.  I never wear much.  I showed up to the photo shoot in what I thought was DARK and exaggerated makeup.  I asked the makeup girl/trainer if it was dark enough and she said HELL no.  So she took me in the back and added about 992 more coats of makeup to my face.

I always feel so strange when I have a full face of makeup!   The picture above is what I have to try to imitate next Saturday before I go on stage.  Maybe I’ll just hire someone to do my makeup and lashes…I’m LOST when it comes to all this girly stuff.

I ended up choosing to do some pictures in a bikini and then a bunch of different workout outfits.  I requested to have a bright white backdrop for all my images because I had never done that before.  I love how those pics look.  Hopefully mine turn out good too!

Well….the app on my phone says I have 124 hours until I step on stage for the first time and I’ve got a lot to do until then!!! I’ll try to post more this week before I leave for Chicago!!!

I’ll be posting random posts and pictures the day of my show so you guys can follow along, but it’s way easier to post to my Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/livelifeactive ..so make sure to follow me there if you’d like to stay updated!

  1. Haha I love how with every post you do, your competition prep looks so much like ballroom competitions. I used to spend hours stoning my costumes. Good memories 🙂 Also are you allowed to spice your fish? Maybe you can cover it with enough hot spices that you can’t taste it?

  2. What’s it like eating fish at 7:45 a.m.?? LOL I dont think I would look forward that meal. 🙂

And I totally get the food prep – it is a must & I do it, too – but do ever get grossed out by the idea of having cooked fish sit in the fridge for 4 days? Thats how I am with chicken … I prep it on Sunday, but by Wednesday, I am mentally freaked out by the idea of my chicken sitting in the fridge for 4 days already and I cant eat it… I know, weird question, but I was just wondering if anyone else ever feels this way? LOL

    • Yeah sometimes I do feel that way…I just don’t really have the time to cook during the week. Since this week’s food is such a struggle for me already, I may give my Thursday & Friday meals to my boyfriend tonight and try to find time to re-cook them so at least I can have them fresh and it’s not as painful haha.
