Color Me Rad 5k Recap

This past weekend I was able to participate in Indianapolis’ Color Me Rad 5k! I had never done this race before but it was very similar to The Color Run 5k that I did a few weekends ago.

It was fun!!!!! My boyfriend ran with me this time. This was our third race together. While we were running, we realized that the only other races he has done are two Warrior Dash’s.  When I realized this…I said “so this is your first normal 5k then?” and he looked at me and then looked down at his shirt and said “you call this race NORMAL?” haha. I was wrong.  The Color Me Rad 5k race was not “normal” at all. You don’t just run…it’s way more fun than that!

Just to clarify…I meant that this was his first non-obstacle course/mud run!

Here I am before the race..all fresh and so clean…clean!

Everyone wears white shirts and bright colors.

Throughout the race you run through color “stations” where they throw a different color on you at every station.  If you stay towards the outside of the road, you’ll get more color on you.  If you go through the station in the middle, you won’t get as much.  Get your butt on the outside of the track and get colorful!!!  The more color, the more fun it is 🙂

The thing I liked about the Color Me Rad vs The Color Run was that this race also used liquid color to spray us at some stations. I feel like when the color is in liquid form it is much darker on our clothes and looks cooler.

I also found that the more you sweat, the darker the powder gets on your skin. My poor boyfriend, because he sweats like a monster and ended up getting doused in the face with blue powder right at the end.  He was already completely sweaty at the end and the blue color made his face look like he belonged in the Blue Man Group.  I loved it though 🙂 I got a good laugh.

Here we are right after the race.

I think he still has some blue inside his ears.

The darker colors are a bit hard to get off in the shower too but it does come out of your clothes and off your skin.

I was so worried that my color would still be in for my photo shoot the next day..but I scrubbed it all off and was in the clear the next morning 🙂

Overall I would totally do the Color Me Rad 5k again. The free swag they gave us were really cute too! Usually I don’t like the free race shirts I get, but this one was really cute, soft and fit perfectly! I will totally be rocking that shirt!

Annnnd of course I had to do a flexing picture….I’m a colorful meat-head I guess 😉

Have you ever done the Color Me Rad 5k?

If you haven’t, I’d recommend trying it when it comes near you!

  1. Hey Erin my name is Brett Banford and it is nice to meet you! I am also doing the Color Me Rad race in late October with my girlfriend. It looks like it is a lot of fun and it’s nice to see another person’s perspective of the race. Next I have to convince her to do a Spartan Race with me haha, can’t wait to follow more of your posts in the future!
