Eating 100% clean for a full day is something that doesn’t come easy to me. You may think that I am good at this “clean eating” thing, but It’s still a HUGE struggle for me. I crave junk food ALL the time! I always feel a huge sense of accomplishment when I know I’ve had a 100% clean eating day and got my workouts in. That’s how yesterday was 🙂 Yipee!
I think the reason why I have such bad cravings for junk food and crap is because of the way I grew up. I know I have mentioned this before, but I was raised on pizza, McDonald’s and candy bars! My mom hates anything green, so vegetables were never seen on our dinner table. Transitioning to clean eating has been a huge struggle for me.
I have never gone a full 7 days eating 100% clean…I think 5 has been my max. Maybe that should be a new goal for me….hmmm. I know this probably sounds ridiculous to many of you, but that’s a HUGE goal for me.
DONE! I just decided as I typed that. I’m dedicating a full week to clean eating. 7 days of CLEAN foods only..no cheats. I’m scurrrred but I can do it 🙂

Here are some grub shots from yesterday.
I had never tried edamame soybeans before, but they are pretty good. I just steamed them and added a little bit of sea salt. I only ate about half of what is shown above.
I got a 45 min chest and triceps workout in at lunch and did 20 min of cardio in the evening with my boyfriend. I hopped on my sweet rollerblades and he rode along with me on a bike. It was fun and it was soooo beautiful out! I’m loving this hot but not DEADLY hot weather like we’ve had recently.
I was DRIPPING with sweat after my rollerblading sesh…love it!
And it was a good quick workout too. 232 calories in 21 min…Sweet!
Have you ever tried edamame? Do you like it? What’s the best way to prepare it?

I like eating edamame with sushi or in an edamame/kale salad with some balsamic vinegar.
Good luck on your clean eating!
I LOVE edamame! Usually, I just boil a bunch of it at a time and use it for salads all week. Just a little salt goes a long way…
I love edamame and just made a new recipe with it last night. Asian Edamame Fried Rice. The recipe was from SkinnyTaste.com I added a few extra eggs for more protein as there was no meat in the recipe. Turned out great!! I typically will by it shelled from Trader Joe’s. It’s the perfect portion size to make a meal for my husband and I. I also love to put in soups, just for some extra nutrients and color.
I usually either steam or boil in water and it only takes about 8 minutes then I sprinkle with sea salt and sometimes a light soy sauce is great as an appetizer type dish.
speaking of Edamame… I found this recipe just no on Pinterest!

I was looking at your monday meal log and saw the water you drink. Is that 152 oz of water a day? My problem is soda. How would you recommend putting the soda down and drinking more water, other than fighting that craving? Thank you for this site since I’ve decided to eat healthier and eat cleaner your site has been a lifesaver for me. Loved the pizza recipe!
Thanks for reading my blog!! Yes, that’s 152 oz of water that I drank that day. You can read how I quit drinking soda cold turkey at my post http://livelifeactive.com/2012/03/27/quitting-diet-soda/. It’s been 6 months now since I’ve drank any!
