Protein Coffee & 4th Of July

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!! I had a nice and relaxing one. We stayed at home and worked on our “Man Barn” renovation (okay..maybe the BF worked and I just watched).

He spent the day building the upstairs to the man barn.  We plan on having an upstairs area that we can use as storage space since the whole downstairs will be a living/workshop area.

Here’s Ryan hard at work 🙂

And my pups and I just sat back and watched for most of the day.

It was sooo hot out, so I played around with my doggies.  I got out the hose and let them play in the water.  I swear Max (the bigger one at the bottom) goes NUTS when I bring out the hose.  It’s his favorite “toy” in the world.  He tries to eat the water and goes NUTS for it 🙂 I love him.  Mya is still a puppy and is unsure about the whole deal.  She’s a typical girl and never wants to get wet.

I’m so glad I found a boyfriend who can build stuff.  Such a great quality!!!!  He can build or fix ANYTHING!

I don’t have a good after shot of what we he got done, but this is the best one.  He put 5 big beams across the back of the barn and put some plywood boards on top to make the upstairs.

I can’t wait until we start the fun stuff like decorating and making it look pretty 🙂 I’ll keep you guys updated on the man barn status 😉

Anyways….

At least it’s already Thursday! I came into work feeling like it was Monday so that’s a huge relief. Wouldn’t it be nice if we had Wednesdays off every week!?!?!

So, I’ve been struggling with a coffee issue lately.  Since I gave up drinking diet coke in February 2012..(wow it’s been 5 months now! I seriously can’t believe it!!!), I’ve had to find a different source of caffeine to get me through my long days. I have discovered that I HATE coffee black.  I don’t know how you people drink it black!

I’ve been adding a packet of Truvia to my coffee lately but I wanted something else. I’ve made protein coffee before, however ICED protein coffee is WHERE IT’S AT!!!

I fill up my nalgene water bottle with 1/4 ice and then pour in my coffee. I feel like a total coffee addict when people see my filling my 32 oz nalgene water bottle with coffee but that’s another story.  I bet they think I fill it all the way up, but I would be bouncing off the walls if that was true. I just fill it up to about the 16oz mark. When I get back to my desk I add a half to a full scoop of vanilla protein powder to the nalgene bottle and shake it like a mad woman.

It’s really good and seriously tastes like a Mcdonald’s Iced coffee!

When I used to make protein coffee, I was just mixing hot coffee and protein powder with a spoon. It was always chunky and never that great.  The key to making this work is by using a shaker bottle like one by nalgene.  It mixes perfectly and is such a great sweetener to the BLAH black coffee taste.

Now I can get a great source of protein in while I also get my energy to tackle the day 🙂

Do you ever make protein coffee?
