Morning Cardio

Happy Monday everyone! My alarm went off at 6am this morning and I actually got my butt out of bed and hit the pavement.

As I said last week, I’m NOT a morning cardio person so I am super proud of myself for dragging myself out of bed. Even my dogs looked up at me and instantly rolled back over..probably thinking “no way in hell I’m getting up yet!”

I slept in my workout clothes so all I had to do was put on socks, shoes, brush my teeth and put my hair in a pony tail. I was on my driveway within 4 minutes. Now THAT’S fast!

I ran for 25 minutes around my neighborhood which was about 2.7 miles.

I did my cardio on an empty stomach because I’ve always heard that you can burn more fat that way.  The reason why it’s been proven effective is due to the depletion of glycogen in the morning.  Glycogen is the body’s first source of energy.  When you do cardio on an empty stomach, you haven’t had any nutrients to fill your glycogen stores, which causes the body to burn fat and protein instead of glycogen first.

I’d love to keep running in the morning, but we’ll see how often I can do it!

I still have to get in my weight training for the day.  I am hoping to get it done on my lunch break or after work.  It’s a chest & back kinda day today.

This is a pretty big week for me.  I have a job interview on Wednesday.  I bought this cute little work dress at H&M last week.  I never wear work dresses and I am in LOVE with this one!

Hopefully it lands me a new job.  The reason I’m looking for a new job is because the computer system I work on will be going away in September.  I’ve known about this transition for 2 years now, so it’s not a surprise.  My boss actually set me up with this meeting on Wednesday with our hospital’s Web Marketing team.  I’ve always wanted to get into marketing, so this could be a good opportunity!  Let’s just hope they have some positions open where they can squeeze me in!

This week also starts the Indy 500 week!!! I’m sooo excited for the Indy 500 on Sunday.  It’s always a craaaaazy time.  We usually get up at 3am to head to the track and the race doesn’t even start until noon.  It’s a LONG day.

Have you ever been to the Indy 500?

We usually end up hanging out in the infield and can’t even see the race.  That’s fine with me though because I know NOTHING about racing.  I just love the atmosphere and hanging out with all the loud car noises zooming all around us for 3 hours.
