So I have found that being prepared is the key to eating clean. On Sunday I spent a few hours prepping my food for the next few days. It has helped me out tremendously! I was able to divide my foods up into their serving sizes to make things much easier on me. When I’m hungry, or headed to work, I just grab enough fruits, veggies, protein and starches.
I still have to figure out a lot of things though. I think I’ve got my first 2 morning meals planned out pretty well..but after those two, things get a little less organized.
Here was my nutrition yesterday. I think I did pretty darn well. There are a couple things that aren’t 100% clean on here, but hey..I’m not perfect!
Monday | Time | 3/19/12 |
Meal 1 | 7:45 | 1 slice of Ezekial toast, 1 tbs natural peanut butter, 4 egg whites, 4 strawberries |
Meal 2 | 10 | Greek Yogurt (lemon-verbena berry flavor), half an orange, 1/4 cup kashi crunch honey almond cereal |
Meal 3 | 12 | 5 oz deli turkey, 1 cup green beans, 1/4 cup kashi crunch honey almond cereal |
Meal 4 | 2:45 | Labrada Lean Body For Her Meal Replacement Shake |
4:15 | Gym (chest & shoulders & 30 min HIIT on treadmill) | |
Meal 5 | 6 | 4 oz chicken breast, 1 cup green beans, 1/4 cup brown rice, sweet baby rays bbq sauce |
Meal 6 | 8:30 | 4 oz deli turkey, carrots and celery, sugar free jello |
Water consumed = 152 oz
I burned 548 calories on my workout at the gym. For the sprints, I did 30 second sprints from 8-9mph. I ended it off with 3 sprints at 10, 10.5 and 11mph. 11 is a bit intense for me!
I can’t believe the difference in the amount of food I’ve been eating and what I used to eat! I used to eat my 3 meals a day. I now eat every 2-3 hours! I’m also seeing some pretty decent changes in my body too so hopefully I can keep this going!
Here’s a couple pics of my eats. I appologize for my classy paper plates 😉 Hey..I’m a busy girl these days..who wants to do the dishes? Not me!
My desk at work has somehow turned into a supplement cabinet. haha.
I’ve got about 4 meal replacements and a few packs of protein. In my other cabinet I have the rest of my protein. This isn’t all of it 😉
Hopefully I never get fired because if someone came to clean out my desk they would be a bit surprised.
Have you ever had a meal replacement shake? What do you think about them?
I’m new to them but the Labrada Lean Body for Her was pretty tasty. It’s tough to prepare 6 meals a day so these make it easier to get your 6 meals in. I’d be fine with having 1-2 of my meals be meal replacements. It’s so much easier and you get all the right nutrition!
This week is still crazy. I haven’t had time to plan ANY meals… I will have to get back to it soon… 🙂
You’ve got that right about being prepared! Especially with carb cycling. You really can’t “wing” your meals and expect proper macros. Good job!!
I think meal planning is key to staying on track. If you have everything planned out, it’s much harder to deviate from that! Question for you..I’ve never had protein shakes but I want to start drinking one a day..which one would you recommend??
Julia, That’s a TOUGH question! There are a lot that I’ve liked. Lately I’ve been drinking Dymatize elite whey isolate (chocolate) and I like the taste of it. I got it at the Vitamin Shoppe. I just recently started trying some stuff from Whole Foods by Jay Robb. That stuff is pretty good too and mixes really well. They are both low carb with no artificial sweetners.
Let me know what you decide!!! I always like hearing about new stuff.
I’ve never actually been a fan of meal replacement shakes. I prefer chewing my calories, so that also excludes shakes and the such, too. Lame, i know. :p
