Clean Eating Can Be Tough

If you know anything about me, you’d know that it’s tough for me to eat 100% clean.  I have a sweet tooth, am a pizza and mexican food lover and I was raised on fast food at least once a day.

I remember waking up for breakfast almost every morning and my mom had Mcdonald’s or Burger King breakfast waiting for me on the kitchen table.  At that time, I thought it was awesome.  Looking back at it, I feel like it’s made my adventure into clean eating MUCH HARDER.

I don’t like many veggies.  The few veggies I like are the ones that are really high in sugar like corn, potatoes, and peas.

I don’t like much fish.

I don’t like cottage cheese.  The texture creeps me out.

I eat like a 7 year old would eat.  I may have graduated up to about a 10 year old lately though.  I’ve been trying so many new things (not saying that I like them though).

I really wish I was introduced to more healthy foods when I was younger.  It seems that anything I ate as a kid, I like as an adult.

Since I joined Team Savage, my goal has been to focus the next few days to see if I can eat 100% clean.

I’d have to say..yesterday I was pretty close to 100% clean!!! It wasn’t easy and I almost broke down a few times.

Here’s a look at my huge food prepping session I had last night.

Cooked some sweet potato fries on my pizza cooker.  That pizazz pizza cooker is my favorite kitchen gadget…may even beat my Magic Bullet!!!

24 Hard Boiled Eggs….

Asparagus…even though I don’t like them I figured I’d TRY to like them….

And I made a tray full of my least favorite veggie…brussel sprouts.

Look at me, trying new things!

I added some chicken and water and I had a well balanced diet.

Not saying I ate all of the veggies..but at least I ate some!

The fries and chicken were obviously the stars of my dinner.

Here’s a look at how my eating was  yesterday.  Notice that I only had 1/8 cup of cottage cheese.  Ugh..I almost puked! I hate the texture!!!! I even tried to blend it in my magic bullet and still couldn’t stomach it.

I’m a baby.

Tuesday Time 3/13/12
Meal 1 7:40 1/4 cup oatmeal, I packet Truvia, water
Meal 2 11:30 3 oz rotisserie chicken, 1 medium sweet potato
Meal 3 1:30 Handful of almonds
Meal 4 2:30 Pre-Workout protein shake (1 scoop whey)
  4:15 gym
Meal 5 7:15 3 oz rotisserie chicken, 1/3 sweet potato, 4 brussel sprouts, 5 asparagus
Meal 6 9:00 1/8 cup ff cottage cheese

Before this crazy cooking adventure, I went to the gym.  It was soooo gorgeous outside but I drug myself into the gym anyway.  I did an intense leg/core workout with a lot of plyometric work.  Among many exercises, I did about 93929 lunges.  Maybe it was more like 120 lunges..but it seemed like 93929.

My legs are a bit sore today and I love that!

After my lunge and plyo session, I did 10 minutes of HIIT on the treadmill and 10 more minutes of a moderate pace at an incline.  20 minutes was all I could handle after a tough leg workout.

I ended up being at the gym for only 56 minutes and burned 562 calories.

Is eating 100% clean hard for you?

As you already know….It’s hard for this girl!!!!  I know that it’s the one biggest thing I need to change in order to meet my fitness goals.  Maybe I can change my taste buds and start liking more veggies if I just keep forcing them down my throat and chasing them with my water 😉

  1. It must be really hard to eat close to 100% as possible. Although I truly do try to do this, I find it almost impossible. I love my pizza, pretzels, special K chips and I am not sure that at this point in my life, I am ready to give that up. haha. But MAJOR MAJOR props to those who can 🙂

  2. I am so glad that someone else struggles with the veggies as I do. I can’t stand them either. I love potatoes, green beans (really any kind of bean), corn, and tomatoes. I think that ends my veggies. I LOVE carbs though. For some reason, those don’t count. 🙂 I was raised on a farm and if I said I didn’t like it, the issue wasn’t forced. Now, I wish they had said I had to at least try a bite since I’m 36 now and, like you, eat like a 9 year old. Thank you for your post. It made me feel a lot better and it helped me see that I’m not the only one struggling with this journey. (While I may never be able to be 100% clean eating, but every little bit helps.)

  3. Oh… and I walked 3 miles today. I may not be able to move tomorrow, but I sure moved it today. 🙂 Again, thanks for your post!
