Day 74 – Arms, Abs & Cardio

The alarm went off again at 5am and I dragged myself out of bed for another workout before work.  There’s nothing that gives me more motivation than knowing that I’ll have to be in a bikini in 15 days. 

I’ve been kicking butt in the workout department this week and was doing great on eating clean..until last night.

The bf and I had Steak & Shake for dinner.  Nope, we weren’t even drunk.  We may be one of the few that enjoys some good old steak and shake on a sober week night.  I blew my diet last night but I can’t stress about it too much. 

With my S&S binge on my mind, I killed it in the gym this morning.  Thank you Steak and Shake, I guess?

I completed Day 74 – Arms, Abs and Cardio. So far this may be my favorite circuit I’ve done.  I love working arms and abs, or as Jamie Eason calls them glamour muscles 🙂

 Here’s a look at my weight lifting circuit. 

Each circuit took me less than 10 minutes to complete.  The gym was empty and I had all the equipment laid out in front of me that I needed.  I didn’t even have to go from one side of the gym to another to use a machine.  This whole exercise just took some free weights, dumbbells, bench, and a mat.

I completed 3 sets of this circuit.

EXERCISE
 Set #1 
 Set #2 
 Set #3 
 Barbell Biceps Curl (EZ curl bar): 20       
 Lying triceps press: 20 reps       
 Alternating Dumbbell Curl: 20 reps       
 Overhead Dumbbell Extension: 20 reps       
 Bench Dip: 20 reps       
 Jackknife: 20 reps       
 Crunches: 20 reps       

Then I hopped on the treadmill for the cardio portion.  The plan calls for 30-40 min of cardio.

I did a mix of HIIT intervals and jogging and tried to keep my heart rate in the 170’s.  I kept this up for 35 minutes.

Then I finished off my workout with 10  minutes on the elliptical. 

For some reason I can’t get myself to stay on the treadmill more than 35 minutes.  I just get too bored!

The overall workout took 1:13 and I burned 730 calories.  Not too shabby!

I got another co-worker (male) to start the LiveFit program!! I love this.  I feel like we are starting a revolution here people! 🙂 

My boss just said that I’m making our I.T. team the fittest I.T. team around!  I don’t think that would be that  hard though considering what the typical I.T. person looks like 🙂 

He just told me how sore he is from day 1 and day 2.  I told him to get used to it because I’ve been sore for almost 3 months now.  I love that Jamie switches up the plan every 2 weeks to challenge your muscles in different ways.  I actually like the feeling of being sore now because I know that It means I’ve rocked it in the gym.

  1. I took a couple weeks off after finishing the trainer and just went back to phase 2 on Mon. I was sore the entire 3 months, now feeling sore again for Phase 2 Week 1. I am so exhausted by Thursday that I usually end up taking Thursday off and usually have a cheat around Wed after eating clean all week. I think its good to have a cheat (meal, not day) a couple times a week to get the glycogen stores back up. I have liked hearing your recaps of the trainer!

    • Thanks Megan! I am also a big fan of having cheats. I feel like my body bounces back pretty quickly after a cheat meal..so I can never stress about it too much. I’m still trying to decide what to do after the trainer. I’m guessing I’ll hang out in phase 2 for a while then maybe do it again before the summer bikini months 🙂 Such a great program!
