Circuit Training

Yesterday was my first day of circuit training on my workout program.  This is when I concentrate on lifting a high amount of reps with a lighter weight.  This was a different style of training for me because you do 150 reps and THEN you can rest.  That’s a LOT!

Here’s a look at my workout for yesterday’s Day 71 on Jamie Eason’s LiveFit program.

The Workout

Complete 30 reps for every exercise back to back, without rest, for a total of 150 consecutive reps. Rest 3-to-5 minutes between each circuit and then repeat 2-to-3 more times.

Circuit: 3-4 rounds

Barbell Squat Barbell Squat

Barbell Squat 30 reps

Leg Press Leg Press

Leg Press 30 reps

Stiff-Legged Barbell Deadlift Stiff-Legged Barbell Deadlift

Stiff-Legged Barbell Deadlift 30 reps

Barbell Lunge Barbell Lunge

Barbell Lunge 30 reps

Calf Press On The Leg Press Machine Calf Press On The Leg Press Machine

Calf Press On The Leg Press Machine 30 reps

Rest 3-to-5 minutes.

I actually really enjoyed this type of training.  Sometimes I get bored resting between sets.  This process keeps you busy (and worked!!) the whole time.  I found that each circuit took me about 10 minutes to complete.  I did the circuit 3 times.

It was a very fast workout compared to weeks 9 and 10 of this plan.  I was used to being in the gym to 1:30 to 2 hours at a time, but I was in and out of the gym for this workout took less than 45 minutes!!!!  Woohoo! I hope the rest of the plan is like that.

I ended up burning 328 calories in the 34 minutes I was working out.  There was no cardio on this day because it was leg day.

The plan says to do it 3-4 times, but I only did 3 because I wanted to get home to my puppy!!!

My lil’ girl doesn’t have a name yet, hopefully we’ll pick one soon.  She’s doing well, but still has a LONG way to go before she’s fully potty trained.

Let’s hope she doesn’t try to play this little move on me….

  1. Hey Erin, I’ve been reading your blog this morning and I love it! It’s great to see a journal of the Live Fit program from beginning to end like this. You mentioned way back at the beginning of phase 1 that you weren’t following the eating plan, is that still true? Would you recommend doing it this way? Thanks!!

I’m thinking I might go through the plan once just focusing on the workouts and then a second time including the eating. I used to lift weights regularly but it’s been over a year!

    • Natalie, Thanks for stopping by my blog! I am still not following the diet. I am just eating healthy and trying to incorporate more clean foods into my diet. It’s been a huge success so far. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on the way I look and I feel wayyyy better about myself! I think the plan works no matter what you eat, as long as you keep it on the healthier side. Good luck!!

    • It’s been quite a journey! It’s been fun but very rewarding! I’m in the homestretch but am pretty happy with my results so I’m taking the last two weeks pretty slowly. You should give the plan a shot!
