Eggies & Ezekiel Bread Monday

Yesterday morning started off a little bit like this….

I was trying two new things on Monday morning: Vanilla Caramel Truffel Lipton Tea and Ezekiel bread.  I’ve heard so much about this exekiel bread and wanted to give it a shot.  Ezekiel bread is a brand by Food For Life.  The main ingredients are: wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and Spelt.  When combining these 6 ingredients, a high quality, complete protein is created similar to that found in eggs and milk.  The bread is also flourless, certified organic, contains a low glycemic index for diabetics and contains all 9 essential amino acids (18 amino acids total) – all from vegetable sources.  All around it’s a very healthy bread.  It has about 80 calories a slice.

I tried out the cinnamon raisin flavor and it is good! I found it in the healthy freezer section at my Kroger.  I ate it plain but can’t imagine how good it would be with some peanut butter or almond butter added to it!

This is the tea I tried.  I know black tea is not as good for you as green tea, but I’m really trying to get into the idea of drinking tea more.  I drink diet coke so much and am trying to lessen the amount of it I drink.  I thought this stuff was okay but I was craving my diet coke still 🙁

Alright, so on my black friday shopping, I saw this cute little box….

It was in the “As Seen In TV” section.  Ryan and I recently saw an informercial about these and instantly we wanted them.  I’m such a freakin sucker for infomercials!!!

I gave these suckers a try.  I wanted to make some hard boiled eggs and some with just egg whites.

Each egg holder comes in 4 pieces…so there are a total of 24 pieces which is entirely too much to be held accountable for in my opinion! I would have liked them better if they were just two pieces.

So…basically you take apart these cute little egg holders and crack an egg into them so they look like this….

Then you plop them into the pot and wait abut 13-15 minutes for them to cook!

This picture was taken right away..before an eggie cup opened up on me releasing an egg into the pot to freely swim around.  That was the first upset about these Eggies.  The run away egg got all over the other Eggies.

The second thing I didn’t like was that some of them flipped over so they were upside down when cooking.  This made them harder to remove.  I don’t think they were supposed to do that.

Thirdly, the instructions say to keep egg whites boiling for just a few minutes.  When I took them out they were totally runny and not cooked at all.  FAIL.

When I finally took out the ones with a whole egg in them (about 15 minutes later), some of them were still runny too! I don’t know what I did wrong!!! FAIL again!

Now I”m left with these eggie contraptions with egg stuck all over them.  I’ll have to scrub them before I can even put them into the dishwasher.  I’m not happy with these guys but I’ll have to give them another shot at some point.  Maybe I was just an idiot and had bad luck with them.

My favorite part of the kit was that it came with an egg yolk/egg white splitter.  This will definitly come in handy!!  It worked great.

At this point, I’m not happy with my Eggies so it’s like I basically spent $10 on an egg yolk splitter.  Grrrrrr.  Hopefully next time will be a better experience!

Last night I completed Phase 2: Day 48 – Back, Delts & Cardio.

Here it is…

I’m totally NOT a fan of regular deadlifts.  Ryan has REALLY hurt his back doing these and I just think they are a bit akward.  It’s so akward to squat down and bend your knees until the bar touches the ground.  I skinned my knee one time when I pulled up the bar and my poor little knee wasn’t extended enough yet.  I know they have a lot of benefits but after seeing Ryan get so hurt off of them and the akward-ness I had from them…I’m not a fan!

After the back/delt exercises, I did moderate cardio on the treadmill at 3.8mph at a incline of 4.  Sex and The City the movie (the first one) was on…so I got to get teary eyed while doing cardio.  Seriously..who gets teary eyed on the treadmill? I’m such a loser.  Give me some credit though..I happened to turn it on right when Carrie was about to be stood up at her wedding.  Okay..now you understand 🙂
