I know I have been MIA for a long time, but I’ve been busy with my business and a couple other blogs I started. I really want to keep this blog updated, so I’m going to try to do it more often. Lately I’ve gotten into mud runs. They are exactly like they sound, you run a 5k in the mud. The only additional twist in the run is that there are a lot of crazy obstacles within the course.
We signed up for the Warrior Dash in Crawfordsville, IN. It was C.R.A.Z.Y!! I didn’t train at all for it, which was my first mistake. I was really out of shape and to be honest, the hardest part of the race was the running part for me.
When the race started, it was just like any other 5k where there’s herds of people trying to go down the same path. This time it was different because it was that same herd but in a smaller trail. After the crowd thinned out a little, my boyfriend and I (It was his first race ever btw!) took off. I tried to keep his pace which was my first mistake. In every race I’ve done, this is always my biggest mistake. I start off too fast and die by the end! The reason why the running part was so hard becaue a lot of it was UPHILL!!! yuck!
Some of the obstacles consisted of: jumping over fire, through water, over rope walls, propell down hills, rope climb up a hill, army crawl through a mud pit, climb verticle walls, tires and climb through a junkyard. Here are some pics!
If you have never done a mud run before, you should really give it a try. I love getting dirty and love challenges so this was right up my alley. I liked it so much that I decided to sign up for another one called the Rebel Race in Greenfield, Indiana.
