I finally bought another heart rate monitor. After my last attempt at getting one, I finally did some research before picking out my new one. I got the Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor & Watch. It’s a light grey color. So far my work day afternoon has consisted of me messing with it and seeing how it works. So far it’s AWESOME!!! I’ve got the strap on under my work shirt and keep watching what makes my heart rate jump and what’s normal for me. My “desk” heart rate is about 80 bpm. I read that it’s healthy for women to have a resting heart rate of 70-80bpm, so I assume when I’m in bed, it’s closer to 70.
Have you ever heard that drinking cold water burns more calories than drinking warmer water? It’s TRUE! I watched my heart rate as I drank ice cold water and it went UP and then back down a second or two after I swallowed all the ice. My bpm went from 79 all the way up to 91 just from drinking cold water! The myth is true that it takes your body more energy to drink very cold water than warm water. I think that’s pretty cool!
I can’t wait to try out this heart rate monitor at the gym tonight. I have always been so curious as to how many calories I burn when lifting, or when doing Jillian Michael’s Shred workout. I’ll let you guys know how it goes soon for a follow up review!
