Lifestyle Family Fitness

It’s almost Friday kids!  woohoo!

Thursday at lunch I had to run to the party store to pick up some goodies for the Jimmy Buffett concert.  Everything was pretty picked over, but I ended up grabbing a few things.

I got 5 pineapple cups for the girls, some koozies, a grass skirt and cups.  Hopefully I can find someone to wear that grass skirt.  I will already have a dress on, so it won’t be me!  I’m sure someone will get drunk enough and think it’s a good idea.

For dinner I wanted some eggs.  I made 3 over easy eggs and 3 pieces of toast.  Very filling and a yum yum.

Later on, the BF and I decided to finally try out the gym down the street.  We went into LifeStyle Fitness.  We are going to try it for a little bit while we try other gyms in the area as well.  I liked the gym.  It was nothing compared to Chicago gyms.  I used to go to a Bally’s in Chicago and it was always SOOOO packed.  You usually had to wait to get on a cardio machine and the weights were always left all over the place.  LifeStyle was much more clean and manageable.  The gym has a bunch of classes that I want to try out in my free membership.  There’s not enough time to try out all of them though.  Hopefully I can get in some though.

Pros of Lifestyle:

  • Not too busy
  • Weights were organized
  • Close to home
  • Reasonably priced ($35 each for couples but you’re supposed to be married or have a joint bank account)
  • Locker rooms with showers
  • Open at 5am
  • 3 different group exercise rooms
  • Lots of group exercise classes offered
  • Easy parking
  • 30 day free trial
  • Month-to-Month memberships
  • Basketball court
  • Personal TVs attached to all cardio equipment

Cons of Lifestyle:

  • Not a 24 hour gym (important to the BF)
  • Doesn’t have a towel service (important to the BF)
  • No supplement stations or drink station (important to the BF)
  • No pool

The membership for LifeStyle Fitness in Indianapolis is about $35 a month, each, as a couple.  Pretty reasonable.   Nothing compares to my $13 a month I was eventually paying at Bally’s in Chicago because I was a member for so long!  Maybe that’s why Bally’s is going out of business.

At the gym, my BF trained me a bit.  I warmed up on the mill, then did a lot of arm/back exercises.  He always has me do 3 sets of each, with increasing weight and lower reps.  For example, I’d start the first machine with 20 lbs and do 20 reps, then the second set I’d do 25 lbs with 15 reps and the final set I’d do 30 lbs for as many as I can, or about 10 reps.  Seems to work well.  I surprised myself in the gym because I actually feel stronger than I used to when lifting.  After lifting, I did another mile on the treadmill and we headed home.  I can’t be out at 10pm on a work night!  haha gosh I’m a baby.

Hopefully tonight will consist of cleaning the house a bit and going back to the gym to lift legs.

Have a good Thursday!!!

  1. Ahaha… I remember in college, sometimes I wouldn’t even head to the gym until 9:30 or 10… but then I wouldn’t go to bed until closer to 2. It’s amazing how much my lifestyle has changed- I did the Shred at 8:30 last night and it was pushing my limits because I know you’re not supposed to work out right before bed.

And I’m glad you found a gym you kind of like! So many places here are straight up meat markets! :p

    • No kidding, it’s weird that a gym opening at 5 am kinda sparked my attention. Who am I these days?? Yeah most gyms in Chicago were the place to wear all your makeup and the tightest fitted outfit, where dudes try to pick up girls. Yuck.
