Race For The Cure 2010

Happy Fridizzle!!!!!!!!!!!!  It’s RACE WEEKEND!!! This will be my first ever 5k on Saturday morning.  I’m doing the Race For The Cure with one of my friends.  We made shirts in memory of her husband’s mom who passed away from breast cancer about 3 years ago.  We designed the shirts ourselves.  I haven’t seen the actual shirt yet, but I love the prototype the designer sent back to us of what they will look like.  I can’t wait to actually see it and wear it.

As for the running part, I’m a little worried about it.  My friend said that she hasn’t been running much and will want to walk a lot of it.  I personally want to try to run it all without stopping, but at the same time, I’m doing this race for her husband’s mom…so should I stay with her throughout the whole thing?  I’m not sure how to handle this.  I’m sure she wouldn’t care if I ran ahead, but at the same time..maybe she really would.  This is her first race too.  What do you think I should do?

After the race I have to run home, shower, wait for my chi-town girls to get in town (WOOHOOO!!) and then head back downtown Indy to go to a bridal shower for one of my old college roommates.  After the shower we’re going to some winery downtown and then out to the bars after.  I’m supposed to make it to one of my guy friend’s bday parties later on at night..but I have no idea how I’m going to juggle all this.  PLUS, I’M ON CALL FOR WORK!!  If I get a page, I have to respond within 15 minutes.  I can’t be a drunkin idiot and not hear my pager.  Then after I call them back, I gotta rush home and connect to the hospital from my computer to fix whatever I.T. issue the hospital is having.  I can’t believe that this busy weekend is my first weekend on call.  I hope I don’t mess something up!!  Wish me luck 😉  If my post on Monday is “UNEMPLOYED”, you know why!!

  1. Since this is your first race, it all depends on if you have a specific time you want to beat. Its a great cause and either way you’ll have a great time. I’m the kind of person that likes to challenge myself with running so I always tell people I want to run alone and do my own thing. That way you aren’t thinking about whether your going too fast for your friend or too slow.

HAVE FUN – GOOD LUCK! I can’t wait to hear how it goes!!!

  2. Good luck tomorrow! I would run at your own pace and then if you and your friend get separated you can cheer her on at the finish line! Have fun!
