Far from a relaxing weekend

I had the furthest thing from the “relaxing” weekend I thought I’d be having.  On Friday afternoon, my boyfriend and I were invited to go to the Cubs game on Saturday!!!  The Cubs were playing the Reds in Cincinnati so we figured we’d make a trip down there Saturday morning.  Right away I thought about what I can wear and wanted to go to the store to get a new Cubbies shirt.  After work on Friday I decided I’d try to run to the store to get a new shirt and have my boyfriend pick me up if I was to tired or had to much stuff to carry.  Kohl’s is only about 3 miles from my house so I thought it would be a good distance to try to run to.  DIDN’T WORK! I got out there running and didn’t realize that all the roads I’d have to take to Kohl’s had no sidewalks.  I ended up running on the side of the road in the grass most of the time, but the grass area slanted downwards so it was just an ankle injury waiting to happen.  Luckily I didn’t hurt myself, but also couldn’t get to Kohl’s.  I ran the distance that it took to get to the store, but couldn’t cross this river so I ran most of the way back and then my boyfriend saw me on the road on his way home and I jumped in the car.  I had to go to the bathroom SO bad at this point, otherwise I would’ve just finished my run home.  I don’t know what my deal is with having to go to the bathroom while I run.  All the movement must just gravitate everything downwards or something.  I hope that doesn’t happen during the Race For The Cure next weekend!!!  Twice during my run I accidentally hit the “end run” button on my iPhone, so I didn’t get the actual distance I ran.

Friday night we went over to our friend’s house who is one of the coaches at Butler.  It was a good time, but I knew I couldn’t overdo it with the Cubs trip on Saturday.  Saturday morning we headed to Cincy and had a blast.  CUBS WON!!! Carlos Zambrano was pitching, which is my favorite pitcher to watch.  It was a close game but fun.  It’s always funny how many Cubs fans are at the Great American Ballpark when the Cubs play the Reds.  It’s like 1/3rd of the crowd are cheering for the Cubbies.  I love it.  I exchanged quite a few words with random Reds fans 😉

When I go to a baseball game, I watch the game unlike many of my friends.  I like to watch every play and pay attention.  I felt like such the dude in the group.  I went with 3 guys and I was the only girl.  Ironically, I was the person who was totally into the game, up and cheering and yelling while the boys sat and chatted.  haha.  Role Reversal.  SO GLAD that baseball season is back and super happy I made it to my first Cubs game of the year!  I LOOOOOOOVE this time of the year!!!!

After the game we went back to a friend’s house in Cincy and played the greatest drinking game of all time.  Beer-B.  We finally made a set and it was a big hit.  It’s much more of an athletic drinking game then most, that’s why I like it.

At night we went to the bars.  I’m surprised I lasted long enough to go out and continue the night.  When getting dressed to go out, I realized I forgot shoes to wear to go out in!!!! I had a cute shirt and jeans and only had gym shoes!! UGHHH it sucked.  I had to wear my gym shoes and a cute top.  I felt self conscious about it all night, for as long as I can remember.. actually until I was off into my own world of boozy-land where I could care less if I was even wearing shoes at all.

My food was weekend-like.  That means it was terrible.  The only good thing I ate was on Friday was a sweet potato with baked beans that I’ve seen around the blog world.  It was pretty yummy.

Overall it was a fantastic weekend.  I hope everyone had a good weekend as well.  Weather is supposed to be nice this week, so all is good in the world of Erin 🙂

  1. I watched part of that game on Saturday! Yes… I’m a cards fan watching cubs baseball… gotta get my baseball fix somehow!

And your shoe issue is the exact reason why I can’t stop overpacking for every trip I go on… because that stuff happens- bummer!
