Heart Rate Monitor – Sportline DUO 1010

Sportline Duo 1010 Heart Rate Monitor

I just bought a heart rate monitor/watch! If you have read my other posts, you know I’m a huge tech geek when it comes to working out. I’ll try just about any type of gadget and if it is related to working out, that’s even a bigger bonus. I’m really excited because now I can actually track how many calories I really burn on workouts like Jillian Michaels The Shred. I was counting it as 100 calories burned for level 1, but I’ll let you know what it really is if I do the Shred tonight.

I got the Sportline DUO 1010 Dual-Use Heart Rate Monitor (price was about $70 at Target). It comes with the watch and waist band. It says it works with the watch and band by taking a continuous heart rate, or you can just wear the watch to test your heart by touching it.

I’ll give a better review tomorrow. Here’s a picture of it. I think it looks bigger in the picture. (At least I hope it doesn’t look that big in person!)

**Update**
I already returned it. It sucked! It wouldn’t read my heart rate every time and when I stepped outside, my heart rate went up to 236!! I’m pretty sure I’d be dead!  I messed around with the watch for about 3 hours at work to try to figure it out.  First of all, it’s very hard to understand, even for me.  I’m VERY good with technology and this watch just had too many bells and whistles and it just wasn’t a good interface for a running watch.  When I had the watch on only, it would only take my heart beat when I touched it, which is fine…that’s what it said it would do.  However when I had the watch AND band around me, it’s supposed to take my continuous heart rate.  It did not.  It would go long periods of time when I would change up my activity and stay the same heart rate.

I was hesitant to go with a brand that I wasn’t familiar with, and now my hesitation has been confirmed.  I’m unhappy with Sportline and would probably not buy from them again.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good heart rate monitors??
